Fifth and sixth grade teams from the Quaker Valley Middle School and Osborne and Edgeworth Elementary Schools participated in the annual CalcuSolve math competition hosted by Duquesne University on Thursday, November 21, 2019. Students from school districts throughout the region competed in this event that was sponsored by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
The competition included 9 rounds of very challenging math problems. Seven problems were solved individually, and two questions were answered as a group. Awards were given for outstanding individual and team performances.
The following students participated in CalcuSolve:
Quaker Valley Middle School: Eoin Parnell, Patrick Connors, Lorelai Cymbalak, Dominic Pogue, Reagan Eichert, Ella Palmer, Emma Currier, and Gemma Wiegand
Edgeworth Elementary: Arjun Kathju, Gio Ramella, Sam Chapman, Ruth Whitacre, Madeline Horton, Kieran Cain, Charlie Pyle, and Milo Taylor-Martin.
Osborne Elementary: Nic Cohen, Connor Sheridan, Grace Castaldo, Libby Doebler, Ben Finamore, Anna Fuener, Freya Gordon, Kennedy Waffensmith
