Until Monday, November 2, 2020, Quaker Valley Middle and High Schools will be 100% online. The District made this decision on Saturday, October 17, after a spike in COVID-19 cases in grades 6-12. Classes for students in grades 6-12 will take place synchronously via Zoom Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 30, 2020.
To keep the QV Community informed of the District's current health situation, we have created a web page dedicated to health-related information. You can visit this by clicking on the home page at www.qvsd.org, then clicking the Health button. One of the new website features is a District COVID-19 tracker. This graphic includes the latest District COVID-19 information. The District will continue to promptly provide communication updates while also maintaining our obligation to protect an individual's privacy with respect to personal health information. The District will notify parents/guardians when a student attends a school in which someone has tested positive for COVID-19.
If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or has a known exposure (6 feet or less for 15 minutes or more) to a COVID-19 positive individual, please contact the school nurse. We ask that you maintain communication with the school nurses even during this closure.
Keeping a healthy school community requires all of us to work together. Closing the school buildings is just one safety measure to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We need the support of all of our families and students. Please do not hold small social gatherings during the 14-day school closure. Remember that physical distancing, face coverings, and hygiene are critical for our schools' and our community's health and safety. Working together can help us return to opening schools.
We are committed to the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to communicate with families, faculty, and staff as these situations continue to evolve.
