QVSD to Move to Online Learning Starting November 30

Beginning Monday, November 30, 2020, all Quaker Valley School District classes will move to online learning. As you are probably aware, the number of COVID-19 cases in our region and across Pennsylvania continue to climb. To reduce the spread, especially after Thanksgiving, the District will move to online learning from November 30 through December 11, 2020, for all students in grades K-12. We plan to return to our current hybrid learning models on Monday, December 14.

The District Administration made a presentation Tuesday evening, November 17 at the Legislative School Board meeting, explaining how we reached this decision. Click here to view the presentation.

Please note this is not a closure; this is a move to remote learning to assist with mitigation efforts and sustain school operations. Our faculty and staff will still be available for students Monday through Friday as scheduled. Our teachers and support personnel will help our students gather their materials this week, so they have the items they need at home to begin online learning.

As we approach December 11, the data from Allegheny County, along with our 11 municipalities, will be reevaluated, and a decision will be determined at a later date. We are hopeful that mitigation efforts in our region are successful and that we can resume on-campus learning. At this time, we plan to return to on-campus learning on December 14, 2020. Winter athletics and activities will continue with mitigation efforts in place. This will be evaluated weekly.

On December 8, 2020, we will continue our move to the second trimester. We will not be adding additional on-campus days for students in grades 6-12 until after the new year.

The District will continue to communicate throughout this online learning period. Our COVID-19 Tracker is updated each day to reflect the latest data in the schools. We will also continue to provide meal pick up on Wednesdays at Quaker Valley Middle School. Families can sign up for meal distribution online at www.qvsd.org.

We continue to ask all families to inform our school nurses if you may have a positive case. This helps us track the latest data from within our schools.
