QVHS Schedule Change for January 11, 2021

An email detailing the changes for January 11, 2021, was sent to QVHS families on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.

Dear QVHS Students and Families,

We understand that the past few months have been very challenging for everyone and look forward to welcoming students back into the building on January 11, 2021. At that time, we will transition to our T2 instructional model.  With students and staff returning to the building, our goal is to keep everyone safe and healthy.  We will continue to follow the district's health and safety plan and implement essential procedures, including mandatory face coverings for all, frequent hand washing, appropriate cleaning/sanitation protocols, physical distancing in classrooms, common areas, and while traveling hallways/stairwells. We will also follow the same transportation procedures in place for the first trimester and use a staggered dismissal schedule for on-campus students.  Please contact Mrs. Amanda Gilmore, QVHS school nurse, to report positive COVID-19 results as soon as possible. For everyone's safety, students who are sick should not come to the building. Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while in the building will be sent home.

Beginning January 11, 2021, teachers will be livestreaming lessons on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (see student schedule below).  Students who are not in the building will join the livestreamed class from home using Zoom.  All students, hybrid and fully online, will engage in asynchronous learning on Wednesdays and will have the opportunity to meet with teachers during their office hours for additional help and support. Wednesday office hours take place from 10:30 – 11:30 am and 12:00 – 3:15 pm. Students should make arrangements with their teachers to meet during this time.  Students must log in to Schoology at some time each Wednesday to be marked present for the day.

Sincerely,

Deborah Riccobelli, QVHS Principal             Abby Bator, QVHS Assistant Principal

 Livestreaming Safety Guidelines

To slow the spread of COVID-19, the high school and middle school will be using a hybrid learning model to reduce the number of students in the classrooms. Reduced student numbers are so physical distancing can be maintained. Beginning in January 2021, the use of livestreaming from the classrooms will be a tool that Quaker Valley teachers will employ to teach the entire class at the same time. Students at home will be required to attend class live along with their in-school peers through livestreaming technology. While this tool is expected to enhance learning in the hybrid model, there are aspects of online safety that the district will monitor and procedure everyone must follow to ensure that the learning environment is as safe as possible. One such measure is that the livestreamed classes (in general) will not be recorded. Recordings will only occur with building administrators' permission, and the content will be secured on a password-protected website that only authorized users can access. Additionally, to protect student safety during livestreaming sessions, students must adhere to the following guidelines. Failure to follow these guidelines may be cause for disciplinary consequences.

  • Students are prohibited from accessing livestreams from any classes they are not assigned to attend.
  • Students should attend all livestreaming classes on their Quaker Valley issued iPads.
  • Students must adhere to all district policies concerning the use of personal devices and District technology resources. Those resources include the hardware, software, peripherals, and content related to live-streamed instruction. See Board Policy 223.00 Acceptable Use of Electronic Resources (students).
  • Students participating in live streaming must dress appropriately, following the school's Code of Conduct.
  • Students are prohibited from recording/sharing live stream content on school and personal devices, including video, photos, or screenshots. All livestream content is the school district's property and may not be recorded, downloaded, shared, or reposted.
