On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, the Quaker Valley School Board approved the 2021-2022 budget without a tax increase. This is the second consecutive year the District has not had an increase in taxes.
As everyone faces uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Quaker Valley School Board made it its mission not to increase taxes.
“We know families and businesses throughout this community are hunkered down and taking a closer look at their spending needs. The School Board has been doing the same thing. We are working to weather these uncertain times so that we can get through this pandemic without jeopardizing our future,” says School Board President Jonathan Kuzma.
The District has demonstrated great fiscal responsibility in managing finances, including plans for the new high school.
“This has been an incredibly difficult year for everyone especially our school staff, teachers, and students,” Dr. Tammy Andreyko, school Superintendent said. “Our thoughtful approach toward expenditures and financial stability has brought us to this very important decision to not seek a tax increase for the second year. To get to the point now of a zero tax increase should come as a comfort to the public, and demonstrate the fact that the district is a stable one.”
"We have a long-term approach to plan and save for the future and we are grateful that our Board has led this strategic approach to prepare for future liabilities and capital needs while also maintaining an appropriate rainy day fund for times such as these,” adds Scott Antoline, Quaker Valley School District Director of Finance and Operations.
“We continue to maintain one of the lowest tax rates in the region while attaining many high-performance accolades, a value that does not go unnoticed in the community,” adds Kuzma.
The 2021-2022 budget totals $53,610,250 million dollars and allocates $525,000 to the Sewickley Public Library of the Quaker Valley School District.
