Quaker Valley School Board Elects President and Vice President

During the Reorganization Meeting on December 6, 2022, the Quaker Valley School Board unanimously re-elected Mr. Jonathan Kuzma to the role of President and Mrs. Marna Blackmer to the role of Vice President.

This is Kuzma’s third term as School Board President. “I'd like to thank the Board for their confidence in electing me to lead the Board for another year,” he said. “School boards are successful when they operate on a strategic level, and I believe the Board and District have operated strategically in past years and anticipate strategic thinking to continue. In the coming year, I'm looking forward to opportunities to continue the planning process for the new high school, community engagement with stakeholder groups, and working with fellow Board members on delivering a K-12 education that reflects the ‘Quaker Valley Difference.’”

Kuzma is a 2001 graduate of Quaker Valley High School and has served on the Board since December 2013. He resides in Leetsdale (Region I) and works as a commercial real estate appraiser. In addition to sitting on Quaker Valley’s school board, he is also the Director of the Sewickley Public Library and the chairman of the municipal authority of the Borough of Leetsdale.

Blackmer is also a Quaker Valley graduate, her children attend and have graduated from Quaker Valley. She has served on the Board since December 2015. This will be her third term as Vice President. Blackmer is a resident of Edgeworth and serves Region III.

“I am looking forward to continuing in the role of Vice President,” Blackmer said. “I am extremely proud of the work that Quaker Valley School District, including the Board, administration, teachers, and staff do day in and day out for the benefit of the students of Quaker Valley. I appreciate the opportunity to serve this community and the Board as Vice President.”
