Each year, the Quaker Valley School Board gives out an award to an outstanding senior who best exemplifies the District’s mission. This year's recipient of the award is William Musial.
William’s teachers describe William as respectful, diligent, and collaborative. He is the type of student that will advocate for his learning and create a positive environment for everyone in his classroom.
In addition to competing on the cross-country and track teams, William is a quick pick when the Guidance office needs to match a new student with a current student. He meets families, gives tours and shares his experiences effortlessly. His positive attitude and energy are infectious. Weeks after meeting with new students, William follows up with them, and asks staff and teachers how he can better help and support them.
During his free time, William has spent the last four years working at the community library. He is a passionate learner. This year he is the Senior Editor of the school newspaper, “The Quaker Quill” and gives his time to the GSA, Bittersweet magazine, and Global Scholars. With great pride, we watched William perform at school musicals and in the drama club, pouring his heart and soul into his roles, well beyond the script on the page.
In only a few years at QVHS, William has earned the respect of his peers and the faculty. His concern for others, coupled with his intellect and enthusiasm, has given him the ability to motivate all of us.
William is a student who exemplifies our District's mission statement. His strong moral compass, intrinsic motivation, and sharp intellect are only part of what William brings to the table. No matter what the task, William is diligent in his duties and industrious in his endeavors.
He is truly a remarkable young man and one of Quaker Valley’s finest students and role models.
William will be attending the College of Wooster in the fall.
