High School football players, cheerleaders, band members, and color guard participated in pep rallies across the District on Friday, October 4, visiting each of the buildings as an opportunity to ramp up school spirit prior to the Homecoming Game. At each elementary building and in the middle school, cheerleaders from each building performed, and school sports were recognized.
The QVSD 2024 Homecoming King and Queen were announced during half-time of the Homecoming game on October 4, 2024. Congratulations to Willy Winnowski and Kwilai Karto!
Willy has been a member of the Quaker Valley football, cross country, bowling, and track and field teams for two years and Best Buddies since 2018. Outside of school, he enjoys playing piano and playing games on his iPad. He will always remember all of the nice teachers at Quaker Valley and has enjoyed his time with the activities and athletics.
Kwilai is a four-year member of the Quaker Valley track team, Black Student Union, Key Club, and Student Council and is also a current school board student representative. In her free time, she works as a lifeguard at the Edgeworth Club and volunteers at her church. Her favorite QV memory was celebrating the boys and girls track and field teams' WPIAL 2A championship win last season. Kwilai plans to continue her track and field career at Emory University next year while majoring in finance.
The Homecoming Dance was held at Chuck Knox Stadium on October 5 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The more than 400 students in attendance were able to dance, play yard games like Can Jam and cornhole, partake in a variety of food trucks, and generally enjoy a great time with friends.
