Officer Cory Zelenak joins Quaker Valley School Police at Osborne Elementary

Officer Cory Zelenak joined Quaker Valley on October 21, 2024 as the newest member of the Quaker Valley School District Police. The Quaker Valley School Board unanimously approved his appointment 8-0 on Tuesday, September 24, 2024; board member Jessica Webster was not present to vote.

Zelenak is stationed at Osborne Elementary, joining the force with Officer Thomas Liberty at Edgeworth Elementary. Officer David Watts at Quaker Valley Middle School, and Chief of School Police Aaron Vanatta at Quaker Valley High School.

Mr. Canan, Osborne Elementary Principal, has taken time this week to show Officer Zelenak around the building and introduce him to staff and students: “We are excited to have Officer Z join the Osborne team! He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with him, and in the short time he’s been here, has jumped right in to get to know our students and families.”

“My first few days at Osborne elementary have been amazing,” said Officer Zelenak. “The faculty, staff and students were so welcoming and have made me feel right at home here. I'm very excited about becoming part of the Osborne Elementary School family. I would like to take this opportunity to invite anyone who may have any questions or concerns about school safety at Osborne Elementary to please stop by my office or give me a call any time.”

Officer Zelenak joins the Quaker Valley School Police with many years of experience serving in a variety of security and police roles. Most notably, Officer Zelenak served as a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper from 1999-2023, when he then became the Chief of Police/Safety and Security at Rochester Area School District in Beaver County.
