Quaker Valley Reaches Collective Bargaining Agreement with Unit 2 Employees

The Quaker Valley Board of School Directors voted on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 to ratify a six-year collective bargaining agreement with their Unit 2 employees which include food service staff and building and grounds employees at the Quaker Valley School District. The action item passed by a vote of 9-0.

 

“I am so grateful to the negotiating team for such clear and thoughtful partnership in this process. These teams keep our buildings clean and safe and feed over 1800 kids every single day,” said Chair of the School Board Personnel Committee Kati Doebler.

 

“Their work is challenging and I’m glad we have a contract that reflects our gratitude for what they do for us every day.”

 

The contract was approved by Unit 2 employees on Saturday, November 16, 2024 and will impact 47 professionals across the District.

 

In a written statement, Unit 2 President Mike Dugan and Vice President Shannon Homan reflected: "We are grateful to have reached an extended six-year contract and sincerely appreciate the administration for their commitment and efforts over the past 11 months to make this agreement possible. This contract highlights the dedication and hard work of our Unit 2 staff who keep our buildings running smoothly every day. A special thank you to the School Board for their unwavering support throughout this process."

 

The period covered by the new contract is July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2030, replacing the previous 5-year contract, which expired June 30, 2024. The average salary increase is 4.5% across the 6-year term. The agreement also provides for increased healthcare contributions as healthcare premiums continue to rise.

 

Stefanie McKissic, Director of Human Resources, said, “We are pleased to announce that after productive discussions and negotiations, a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) has been successfully reached between the District and Quaker Valley Educational Support Personnel Association, Unit 2. This agreement is the result of the hard work and collaboration from both parties, and it represents our continued commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
