Quaker Valley School District has appointed Officer David Watts, who has served as the School Resource Officer at Quaker Valley Middle School since 2019, to serve as the District’s new Police Chief. Officer Watts, a law enforcement professional with over 25 years of experience, will begin his new role in January 2025, upon the district’s return from winter break.
Reflecting on his time at Quaker Valley Middle School, where he has worked closely with students and staff. In a written statement Officer Watts shared, “I have been blessed to have the opportunity to continue to serve the Quaker Valley community in a different capacity…I am looking forward to continuing to improve the safety and security measures in the District. In addition, I [will] continue to develop our strong bond with our Quaker Valley Community.”
Officer Watts bring expertise in public safety, crisis management, and community engagement to his new role. He first held a distinguished career as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, where he was named Trooper of the Year in 2013. He then went on to work for Avella School District upon his retirement from the State Troopers in 2015 before joining Quaker Valley. At the 2023 National School Safety Conference, Officer Watts was recognized with a Regional Exceptional Service

Officer Watts has already made a lasting impact on our district through his exceptional rapport with students, staff, and the broader community,” said Superintendent Dr. Tammy A. Andreyko. As she went on to highlight the impact of Watts’ leadership, she continued, “His strong relationships with local officials, coupled with his impressive resume, demonstrate his expertise and commitment to excellence. Most importantly, we know Chief Watts will lead with both skill and care, ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in Quaker Valley. We are fortunate to have him in this vital role and look forward to his continued service.”
As Chief, Officer Watts will be stationed at Quaker Valley High School, where he will lead districtwide security efforts while continuing to foster connections with students, staff, and families. Watts will also serve as the District’s Safety and Security Coordinator.
In an announcement to families, Quaker Valley High School Principal Dr. Deborah Riccobelli expressed her enthusiasm at Officer Watts moving to this new role: “Officer Watts has been a cornerstone of our middle school community, providing safety, mentorship, and student support. As he prepares to transition to the high school, we are thrilled to see him bring the same dedication and expertise to our QVHS community. We are confident that Officer Watts will continue to nurture positive relationships between students and law enforcement, promote a secure and inclusive learning environment, and enhance the safety and sense of community at all QV schools.”
The district’s appointment Officer Watts reflects its commitment to fostering a secure and inclusive atmosphere for students and staff. His extensive law enforcement background and years of service within Quaker Valley uniquely position him to lead with both expertise and heart.
Watts’ appointment and contract will be ratified and approved by the Quaker Valley School Board of Directors at their January 22, 2025 Legislative Meeting.
