Edgeworth Band and Orchestra

Quaker Valley Elementary Schools offer instrumental music lessons for band (flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion) and strings (violin, viola, cello) in grades 4 and 5. Beginning Band or Orchestra is for students in either grade 4 or 5 who wish to start playing an instrument and 5th grade Band or Orchestra is for any student who has had at least one year of experience studying a musical instrument.

Band (for 4th & 5th grade students) - meets during their music class for a 30-minute lesson on like instruments (every other music class). Additionally, band students meet throughout the year as an Ensemble (all instruments together) for 30 minutes during flex period.

Orchestra (for 4th and 5th grade students) - meets during their music class for a 30-minute lesson on like instruments (every other music class).  Additionally, band students meet throughout the year as an Ensemble (all instruments together) for 30 minutes during flex period.

5th Grade Performances
The 5th grade Band and Orchestra perform a winter and spring concert each year, as well as other events during the school year. The winter concert is performed in conjunction with the 5th grade chorus in their respective buildings in January. The spring concert is in May and all 5th grade students perform in this concert, as well.

4th Grade Performances
The 4th Grade Band and Orchestra perform a spring concert in April in their respective elementary schools.

3rd Grade Tryouts
Students interested in playing an instrument in 4th grade, will have the opportunity to attend the recruitment assembly in May. Students will be introduced to each instrument and will make their instrument selection prior to the end of the school year.
